About Us
As a progressive breeder, we strive to move forward building the elusive perfect Shiba with each succeding litter. As a hobby, rather than a business, we can afford to be very discriminating with the individuals selected for breeding. Health, in addition to conformational qualities and temperament, is our prime consideration. We have had much success in the show ring having bred and/or owned 24 Shibas to their Championships. Also, we are the breeder of a National Specialty Winners Dog, a National Specialty Best Opposite in Sweeps, a National Specialty Reserve and two Orlando Eukanuba Classic winners, one Best of Breed and one Award of Merit. Being a hobby, the dogs are not campaigned or advertised extensively but get their rankings through just a limited number of shows. Our breeding stock originated from two Hall of Fame dogs.
We only have 1 or 2 carefully planned litters a year that are raised in the house under foot for proper socialization. Please do not be offended if we ask you a lot of questions. We try to insure that each buyer is a responsible owner and educated in the breed so that each puppy will be a perfect fit in a forever home. Our adult dogs have indoor-outdoor facilities in an insulated building. They get regular exercise in a big yard and in house time for continued socialization.
I've always loved animals from the time I was a child. I tried to bring home every loose dog I found on the street. My family had always had cats, but I knocked on neighbors doors until I found a daily dog walking task. Graduation sent me to the corporate world from which I have recently retired. During those years, I raised a child while managing to stay involved with breeding and showing. In addition to the 24 Shiba champions there were at least a dozen other breed champion titled dogs, finished multiple obedience titles, including a Utility Dog title and tried a little tracking with a Sheltie. I've judged conformation and was an obedience instructor for the Charlotte Dog Training Club. I am also a member in good standing and an officer of our local all-breed club in addition to other regional and national Specialty clubs. Dogs have been my entire life.
Unfortunatly, my daughter did not share that same interest in showing but happily my granddaughter does. At 12 years old, she managed to finish a Shiba, finish one Japanese Chin and put major points on another, finished a Havanese and has assisted the breeder of a # 1 ranked Chow Chow in showing his dogs.
We believe that Quality is the number one priority over Quantity. We are willing to talk with you at any time about dogs, whether you buy from us or not. Even if you are just interested in learning more about Shibas, come visit with us and the dogs if you'd like but please call ahead for an appointment. See Contact Us page.
