In our fast paced society things are a lot different than they used to be. It's hard for people now days to find the time to sit at the table with the family and enjoy a meal together. You now see dining rooms used mainly for special functions and holidays. Most of us would like to take the time with the family and we should. It may be time that the dining room is converted into a space that is used for many things and not just for meals. Things like doing homework, playing board games or assembling a jig-saw puzzle are few options that are great place to be done on the dining room table.
Things to Consider Before You Buy If you have decided to go with a chandelier, you will need to ask yourself a few questions before you buy. What is your ceiling height? Nine foot ceilings are tall enough for a two-tiered chandelier, but eight foot is not. Really, nine foot ceilings give you a lot more choices. You just want to be sure is is appropriate size for the room. You also have to consider how large the dining room table is. The chandelier should be quite a bit smaller than the table. It should probably be about 75% as big as the diameter of your dining room table.
Decide what you want the room to be like. Is your eating place a kid friendly room that no longer contains kids? If you've gotten to the point in your life that you can finally stop wiping crayon marks off the walls, maybe it's time to step up to something a little more grown up where your decor is concerned. If you want your dining room to be an elegant, soft room where you can enjoy quiet meals, you want to set your sites on a specific group of furniture and design. If you need to keep a family friendly room to eat your meals together, nothing says it can't be creative and chic. Let go of any preconceived ideas you may have had in the past about dining rooms. We aren't in the Brady Bunch days anymore. Now your home can be whatever you want it to be. You aren't stuck in that plaster mold cast that says you have to be conservative.
