2. Formality Opting for either a casual or formal dining space will impact your design choices. For formal spaces, a heavy wooden table with special finish and a fine china cabinet could be chosen. In comparison, for casual spaces, you might decide on a round glass table and a colorful rug to compliment your room. The frequency with which you intend to use your dining area should help steer your design choices, too. You might choose more opulent furnishings for a formal area used only on special occasions as wear and tear isn't a concern. For your casual room, you might need fabrics and accessories that are suited for frequent use.
Many different styles of design can be made more luxurious; it's not as much about the style as it is the way it's done. Most elite dining spaces are striking; while the design is fluid and harmonious it has a few features that really make the space pop. A large, beautiful table should be the focal point of any elite dining room. The chairs should either incorporate rich upholstery, fine woodwork or bold slipcovers. The fixture directly above the dining table should be fine and dramatic; a tasteful chandelier is a classic statement in a richly decorated dining area.
1. Make sure you know what you're working with. Measure your spaces and keep track of what you want to put into your dining area, furniture wise. You obviously need to shop around for best prices and styles, but make a list of the type of pieces that you would like to include in your new dining room. This way, you won't forget anything later when you go to shop online or in store.
But before you tackle a full room remodel you need to first make a list of what you have to work with already. It may be possible to move things around without doing a major renovation to make your room into a functional space. Keep your dining room table as the focal point and decide what will work with it. If you just can't seem to make it work or you find it isn't the right size you may want to consider purchasing a new one. The table is the center of the room and everything else will flow from it to create a space that is both functional and beautiful at the same time.
3. Accessibility If you plan to entertain often in your dining room, it should be accessible to a bathroom and other gathering areas such as a living room or home theatre. Naturally you will want it to be very close to the kitchen. Whether you opt for a formal or informal arrangement, you will also need to plan a dining setting that is roomy enough for people to move around in without having someone else vacate their seat.
